If you haven't heard of Linux (rhymes with 'cynics'), then you've been missing out on one of the most amazing stories of the past decade. Linux is a free UNIX operating system designed originally to run on Intel processors. Over the last five years, volunteer development by thousands of individuals across the internet has skyrocketed and resulted in one of the most powerful, reliable, and useful operating systems available. I have been using Linux since 1995 and have been witness to it's amazing rise to prominence. If you're interested in finding a little more about Linux, click on any of the links below.
- Red Hat Linux: The most popular Linux distribution and a great site for general information about Linux.
- Slashdot: A staple in my daily net diet. I check this site about 5-6 times a day for the latest updates in the computer world and mainly to see what's up in the Linux scene. This site is definitely, "News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters."
- Freshmeat: Another Linux staple. Freshmeat posts all the newest software additions for Linux. Each day about 20 or so updates and/or new releases are posted to this site.
- GNOME: is a graphical desktop environment for Linux. This site tracks many of the developments taking place within the GNOME community.
